Migration Studies (MGS)

Migration Studies seeks to provide the foundations for developing future global leaders with the necessary breadth of understanding of the challenges and solutions to global migration. Such leaders will be committed to improving the regulations, security and resilience as well as the human rights of migrant groups. Factors leading to forced migration will be exhaustively treated.

Disaster and Risk Management

This programme is in response to the management of the increase in the magnitude and frequency of natural and man-made disasters around the world. It is hoped that the proposed programme will provide policy and decision-makers with the concepts, principles, policies, legal framework, and strategies on governance and the mainstreaming of Disaster and Risk Reduction into good development practices.

Indigenous Knowledge and Heritage Studies

Indigenous Knowledge and Heritage Studies (IKHS) of the Global Affairs and Sustainable Development Institute (GASDI) is designed to enable students develop skills and knowledge in development and sustainability studies inherent in the culture and tradition of peoples and their ecologies. This course is generally aimed at attainment of the UN Agenda 2030. IKHS is aimed to promote the spirit of inquiry, research and discovery.

Environmental Management

The focal point of this Programme is environmental management in Nigeria and the world at large. Our objectives are: Promote scholarship, by producing students capable of undertaking research in all fields of environmental resource management; Train candidates who will contribute to the growth and development of Nigeria through sustainable management of the environment, e.t.c.

Climate and Society Programme (CSP)

Climate and Society Programme is aimed at providing the foundations for developing leaders with the necessary tools to understand the challenges and solutions to climate change, and with a commitment to mainstreaming climate change into decision and policy making in all sectors of society. Such leaders will be committed to increasing the resilience of communities through promotion of adaptive capacities of various actors.

Sustainable Development Practice

Sustainable Development Practice (SDP) is designed to equip students with tools necessary to analyse, understand, and engage in policy formulations regarding the interconnection between environment, economic processes, cultural and traditional practices and the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals. It seeks to provide an avenue for interdisciplinary training and education in Sustainable Development.

Natural Resource Governance (NRG)

Our world is plagued by crises, including oil-fueled conflict and climate change. After the pandemic, poverty reduction progress has halted, energy shortages have hit the most vulnerable, inequality is rising, and authorities are increasingly restricting civic space. This programme envisions a world where natural resources enable fair, prosperous and sustainable societies, instead of undermining them.

Peace and Conflict Studies (PCS)

Peace and Conflict studies seeks to provide the foundations for developing future global leaders with the necessary breadth of understanding of the challenges and solutions to both national and global conflicts.It aims to prepare and empower leaders with necessary cognitive acumen and socio- political and historical consciousness to take on the issues of increasing conflicts across the globe.
